Newcastle Sack Sam Allardyce · Jan 9, 09:36 PM
Well, just like that, it’s all over. After only 8 months on the job at St. James’ Park, former Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has been sacked. I am not sure I necessarily agree with this decision, I know he wasn’t the most popular hire in the history of the club, but he still deserved the season to try and turn the club around. The rumors are suggesting that Alan Shearer is going to be the new manager at Newcastle, but I think that would be a bad move. He has never been a manager before, and people are expecting him to be the savior of the club. The only reason why people want Shearer to be the manager of the club is because he was born in Newcastle, played for Newcastle, and scored a lot of goals for Newcastle. There is really nothing about him that suggests to me that he is a tactical genius. It seems to me that Newcastle is being run like a fantasy club, there’s this fascination with signing strikers at the expense of building a solid defense, and it is starting to show. I read a few of the Newcastle blogs this morning and the fans want a manager like Ottmar Hitzfeld or Jose Mourinho to take over the reigns, what makes them think that a big name manager like those two would want to take over the club? The fact of the matter is, Newcastle is a mid-table club, and that is where they reside right now, so I don’t see what the big deal is, apparently having your team play up to their talent level isn’t good enough.
